Cancellation of PCR tests when entering Russia

In accordance with Decree of the Chief Sanitary Physician of the Russian Federation No. 22 as of October 17, 2022 the requirement to present negative PCR tests by foreign citizens upon their entry into the Russian Federation has been cancelled from October 21, 2022.

The requirement for citizens of the Russian Federation to pass a PCR test within three days after their arrival in the Russian Federation from abroad and to stay isolated until the receipt of negative results of testing has also been cancelled. Similarly, the employer’s obligation to ensure notification of employees who arrived from abroad about the necessity to undergo such testing is also no longer valid.

However, the requirement for foreign citizens to fill in questionnaires on arrival is retained. Citizens of the Russian Federation who arrive in the country through air and sea checkpoints are still obliged to complete the forms on gosuslugi.ru website as well.

The Decree also establishes a random testing for COVID-19 at checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation. According to epidemiological indications there can be a continuous testing of arrivals from the countries where epidemiological situation has worsened.
