The President of the Russian Federation signed a law reducing the required length of service of foreign workers for simplified admission to citizenship of the Russian Federation

On July 3, 2019, the President of the Russian Federation signed Federal Law No. 165-FZ "On Amendments to Article 14 of the Federal Law "On Citizenship of the Russian Federation". These changes will take effect on October 2, 2019.

In accordance with the Law, the minimum period for foreign citizens to work in the Russian Federation, which entitles them to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner, has been reduced from three years to one year.
Foreign citizens and stateless persons – qualified specialists have the right to be admitted to citizenship regardless of the period of residence in the Russian Federation, provided they work in a profession (specialty, position) included in a special list approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation.

The list includes 74 professions (specialties, positions), in particular, specialist doctors and other medical workers, engineers of various fields of activity, gas welders, turners, installers, etc.
